Soedarmanto, better known as DARMANTO JATMAN or also often shortened his name to Darmanto Jt , a poet, writer, humanist, and philosopher, was born on this day in 1942. He was an Emeritus Professor at the Faculty of Psychology, Diponegoro University (UNDIP), Semarang. He began writing as a Senior High School student due to his urge to understand theology and philosophy and wrote poems which related to common people before moving on to a wider spectrum of writing. Darmanto published his first collection of poetry in 1975 and since that time has continued to publish many collections of stories.
