Originally run by the Indonesian Foundation (Yayasan Indonesia), the first issue of Horison magazine was published #onthisday in 1966.

The idea to create such a magazine belonged to the writer and publicist MOCHTAR LUBIS, with the first editorial board consisted of H.B. JASSIN, TAUFIQ ISMAIL, Soe Hok Djin (Arief Budiman), D.S. Moeljanto, and himself.

Launch their online version in 2010. In July 2016, happens mark 50 years of anniversary, Horison decided to stop circulation of their print magazine and totally become an online magazine, titled horisononline. Later in January 2018, Horison back with printed version and publish “only” as a quarter magazine.

As of now, our resource library consists of approximately 600 writers, 831 books by 257 publishers, 772 contributing authors, 1149 (386 coverages, 226 clippings, and 537 reviews) articles published in 361 media outlets, 81 works in translation, and 58 useful resources that we consider particularly worth noting.

About Us

For short, our main feature, the writer's directory, provides a way for writers to find one another, but more importantly, the resources provided make it easy for event hosts—especially for international event hosts—literary organizers, arts administrators, librarians, booksellers, and readers to get in touch with writers. It's a HOME FOR INDONESIAN WRITERS. We strive to break down the language barriers that have prevented Indonesian books or literature from becoming more widespread.
