In 2005, Joesoef was awarded the Australia PEN Kenealy Award. He is with author Thomas Keneally and publisher and broadcaster, Brian Johns. Brian Johns was the publisher at Penguin books and was responsible for Penguin deciding to publish This Earth of Mankind in English.
