Andre Syahreza is an Indonesian writer invited by the Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies (KITLV) as a visiting scholar to research Heritage Politics in modern Indonesian literature. His study on contemporary novels in Indonesia was published in the international journal BKI titled The Topicality of Pre-colonial Indonesian Heroes: Recent Popular Fiction From Indonesia from 2011. Known for books like The Innocent Rebel: Sisi Aneh Orang Jakarta from 2006, and City of Fiction from 2010, he began his career as a journalist and later became an editor for Latitudes an English-language cultural studies magazine based in Denpasar, Bali.
