A prominent Muslim scholar known for his moderate views and firm opposition to the ongoing persecution of the Indonesian minority groups Ahmadiyah and Syiah. A prolific author, he has published more than 17 non-fiction books on history and the development of Islam in Southeast Asia.1

Graduated from Department of History, Columbia University (1992. He is known as a prolific books writer; member of advisory board of a number of international organizations such as UN Democracy Fund (UNDEF), International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA. Now he is Director, Graduate School, State Islamic University, Jakarta, Indonesia.2
