Galuh Larasati

Writer

After leaving a career as Public Relations Manager at Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta, Galuh Larasati worked in several professions, including running a small guest house in Jogja and handling special tour packages to the Borobudur area.

After joining the Jogja Women Writing Club, Larasati began writing her first book. It forms part of her life memoir, describing how she has learned so many things in life without money. She’s also able to finally put in writing all the Javanese teachings she received from her parents, especially her father.

Her purpose in writing her book is to provide support for high school graduates who don’t have enough money to continue their studies. The other aim is to help avoid the youth of Borobudur being trapped in the cycle of selling souvenirs – a profession that numbers in the thousands already. With an education she hopes to provide them with a better quality of life.1
