He wrote Islamic poetry and articles on social issues with a clever use of humor. He was a journalist for Indonesia Express and an editor for Balai Pustaka and for Horison magazine. His poetry collections include Ketika Khusyuk Tiba pada Tafakur Kesejuta, Poco-Poco (1974), Dua Warna (1975), Wajah Kita (1981) and Super Hilang Segerobak Sajak (1998). He received several awards, including the Buku Utama Foundation Award and an Award for Art from the Center for Language Advocacy and Development.
