This biography of Amir Sjarifoeddin is undeniably one of the most anticipated books by its readers for several reasons. First, to date, there has not been a comprehensive biography of this "Father" of the Republic. After all, he once served as prime minister when the Republic of Indonesia was still in its infancy. Second, there are many questions regarding this significant figure that remain unanswered. Third, there is a systematic effort by the state to erase and eliminate his role.
Indeed, Mrázek is not the first person to write about this figure, but it must be acknowledged that this book can be considered the most comprehensive account of Amir Sjarifoeddin to date. Efforts to write Amir's biography began in the 1980s, but the number of works is very limited. Even those were based on limited perspectives and were still lacking in completeness, making the presence of this book a valuable addition to fill the existing gaps.
