Petty Pandean-Elliott

Writer

A chef, writer, entrepreneur and philanthropist. Author of several books including Jakarta Bites, a best-selling cookery book published in Indonesia, Petty has written for international publications including the onboard publication “Colours’ of national airline Garuda Indonesia, the Four Seasons International hotel group magazine, the Jakarta Globe Newspaper, Now Jakarta, a travel and tourism magazine and Wanderlust magazine UK.

Petty showcases Indonesian cookery via a modern approach appropriate to today’s kitchens and busy, busy families, while preserving the unique flavours, vibrant colours and culinary traditions that go back to the original spice islands, home of nutmeg and cloves.

She has achieved this through her writings, demonstrations, talks and guest chef appearances with leading hotels including Ritz Carlton, Capella, Nihi, Alila and Aman in Indonesia, the La Reserva Club, Sotograndre, Spain, Villa Kennedy, a Rocco Forte Hotel in Frankfurt and Park Lane Hilton, London. She has participated in international culinary festivals in Singapore and Bali, been invited to teach at the respected Hotel School the Hague in Amsterdam and London’s Sustainable Cookery School, Little Portland Street, among others. She has also served as executive chef at the world renown Nihi Resort, Sumba and taught at the Sumba Hospitality Foundation.

Petty was one of the judges for Asia’s 50 best restaurants and World’s 50 best restaurants from 2016 & 2017 and a guest TV judge on Indonesian Iron chef on RCTI (Indonesian channel) in 2017.1
