Endy Bayuni

Senior editor at The Jakarta Post who served as its editor-in-chief in 2004-2010. He now writes regular columns for national and foreign publications on wide-ranging topics including Indonesian politics, the evolving political cultures, Islam, democracy, foreign affairs, and the changing media landscape.

He is involved with various media organizations, including the Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) in Indonesia and the Southeast Asia Press Alliance (SEAPA). In 2012, he helped found the International Association of Religion Journalists (IARJ) and now serves a member of the executive board. His 31 years in journalism includes a seven-year stint with Reuters and Agence France-Presse. He received several fellowship programs, including one year as Senior Fellow at the East West Center office in Washington in 2011, as Nieman Fellow at Harvard University in 2003/2004, and Jefferson Fellow at the East West Center in Hawaii in 1999.1 Endy is the Founder of The Jakarta Post Writing Center.
