Graduated from University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA, with a degree in English Literature and Creative Writing. He has published three novels: Pathfinders of Love (1999), Heart of the Night (2000), and The Rainmaker’s Daughter (2004). He and Takeshi Ichiki from Plaza Senayan founded Khatulistiwa Literary Award, a literary award for Indonesian writers, in 2001. He wrote and directed his first feature-length film The Lost Suitcase (Koper) in 2006. The Lost Suitcase has been entered into various film festivals: Yogja Netpac Asian Film Festival 2006 (In Competition), Jakarta International Film Festival 2007 (In Competition), 20th Singapore International Film Festival 2007 (Official Selection), Bangkok International Film 2007 (In Competition), Lyon Asian Film Festival 2007 (in Competition).
