The National Book Development Council of Singapore (NBDCS) is a non-profit organisation and registered charity established in December 1968. It promotes writing, reading, storytelling, and publishing through a variety of festivals and programmes, such as the Asian Festival of Children’s Content and the All In! Young Writers Festival.

It also presents several annual and biennial awards, including the Singapore Literature Prize; the Hedwig Anuar Children’s Book Award for published works; and the Scholastic Picture Book Award for unpublished works. Its training arm, the Academy of Literary Arts and Publishing, also runs publishing-related and literary arts-focused courses and workshops throughout the year.

As of now, our resource library consists of approximately 600 writers, 829 books by 256 publishers, 771 contributing authors, 1145 (385 coverages, 224 clippings, and 536 reviews) articles published in 360 media outlets, 81 works in translation, and 58 useful resources that we consider particularly worth noting.

About Us

For short, our main feature, the writer's directory, provides a way for writers to find one another, but more importantly, the resources provided make it easy for event hosts—especially for international event hosts—literary organizers, arts administrators, librarians, booksellers, and readers to get in touch with writers. It's a HOME FOR INDONESIAN WRITERS. We strive to break down the language barriers that have prevented Indonesian books or literature from becoming more widespread.
