Soni Farid Maulana, born in 1962 in Tasikmalaya, West Java was a known journalist and poet who had a connection, to his roots. He first showcased his talent through the 'Pertemuan Kecil' segment of Pikiran Rakyat in 1980. Soni drew inspiration from his childhood in Tasikmalaya and the teachers he had. After graduating from ASTI in 1985 he fully immersed himself in the literary circles of Bandung. In 1990 he joined Pikiran Rakyat as a journalist. Played a role in establishing the cultural section called 'Khazanah.' This platform became instrumental for introducing works and fostering cultural discussions. Soni being a poet with family values dedicated works to his wife and children infusing joy, care and tenderness into his verses. His contributions as a figure in West Java bridged journalism and Indonesian literature leaving behind an enduring legacy, in both spheres.

Soni Farid Maulana passed away on November 27th, 2022. Left behind a collection of words that beautifully captured his world and the world around him.
