Dorothea Rosa Herliany

A poet, teacher, journalist, and publisher. Her poems have been translated and published in Australia, the Netherlands, Germany, South Korea, France, Japan, Vietnam, and the United States. She is the author of ten books of poetry, four collections of short stories, four children’s books, and two collections of local legends. A wife and mother who resides in Magelang (Central Java), she is the recipient of several prestigious awards, including ones from the Jakarta Arts Council (2000), the National Language Center (2003), and the National Ministry of Culture and Tourism (2004). In 2005 she was awarded the Khatulistiwa Literary Award, Indonesia’s best-known literary prize.1
